Where to Start [EchoUmbreon]

Within the expanse of the quiet Forest of Shadows, there was hardly any light for Shizuka to see where she was going. Now that she found out that she was a pokemorph, she was undecided in what she wanted to do next. Should she try to find Team Kuro to turn her back into a human? To tell the truth, Shizuka found it fascinating that she had somewhat turned into a pokemon yet half human. Her original plan was to begin a journey in the Kyuuka region, and challenge the gyms. But now, how could she try the Kyuuka league as a Poke'morph? Could a Pokemon mutant really be allowed in the league? That depended on whether she was technically a pokemon or a human.

When Shizuka had checked her belongings, she was relieved to find that she at least still had her Charizard, Neji, her Poochyena, Teto and her Shinx, Hikari. Neji couldn't fly around in this dark cramped forest, but he could at least walk with her, and his tail flame helped light up enough of a path for her to see a head. Finally she stopped walking and wondered. "You know, Neji, I have no clue which way out of here." Neji turned around and sighed. To Shizuka's surprise, she realized that she could understand what Neji was saying. "Hey, Neji, I can understand what you're saying!!" she exclaimed.

The grumbling from deep within Neji's chest was completely clear to her now! "You can understand what I'm saying? It must be because you've become part pokemon!" Neji growled excitedly. Shizuka swished her six Vulpix tails and twitched her Vulpix ears. She reached up and felt them with her hands and giggled. "They're so fluffy! Here, let's see...Flamethrower!" Shizuka took a deep breath and she suddenly felt heat building up in her lungs, and when she let it out, hot flames burst forth, but they didn't burn her! "Wow! You can use Flamethrower! That's a really strong Fire type attack!" Neji growled happily, flames dancing within his own nostrils.

Suddenly, an exhilarating idea came to Shizuka. "If I'm part Pokemon, then I wonder what other moves I can use, and what level I am! Maybe my pokedex will work here..." Shizuka soon found her national pokedex. "I'll try using it on you." Neji suggested, taking the pokedex and pressing the button while it pointed toward Shizuka.

~Vulpix. The Fox Pokemon. It controls balls of fire. As it grows, its six tails split from their tips to make more tails.~ Neji pressed another button with his white claw, while Shizuka waited curiously for her inspection to finish. ~This Pokemon knows Flamethrower, Extrasensory, and Quick attack, and its at level 6.~ Neji chuckled. "Looks like we need to get you training so that you can become stronger." Shizuka tried concentrating her power which she guessed what phycic power, and soon she was able to release a beam of power in thin air, shooting forward and frying a tree. "I'll get stronger! These are really strong attacks, and soon I'll be leveling up like crazy!" she assured Neji.

Sora walked to Shizuka hoping she would talk to him and overheard her talking to her Charizard so he eavesdropped listening to her sweet voice.

"I could help you train if you want I hope I'm not much more powerful than you, and if you want to even it out my leg won't let me walk that well so if you hit me with a quick attack I probably coudn't do anything." Sora went over and sat down next to a tree, because he was shy, waiting for her response.

[Shizuka]

A familiar voice was heard all of a sudden, and Shizuka whirled around, only to relax once she saw Sora, or Echo, as he liked to be called. "Oh, I didn't noticed you there until you said something. Hello Echo." She greeted the Umbreon Pokemorph, feeling a bit shy around this person. Behind her, she heard Neji chuckle softly. She decided she would ask him about it later.

"You would help me train? Thank you very much!" Shizuka smiled nervously. "But...I don't know how to use Quick Attack. I understand how Flamethrower and Extrasensory work..." Shizuka knew that pokemon would usually just run up and tackle their opponent after sprinting really fast, but how would a human use Quick Attack?

"Well then that will just make this training session much more fun, why don't you try i dunno running up to my and kick, or punch me, seems like that would be a quick attack to a Pokemorph," Waiting for the Vulpix- Pokemorph he remembered he hadn't asked for the cute Poke'morph's name. "Before we start do you mind if I ask your name," Sora asked shyly while wondering if he should go easy on her or go full strength.

[Shizuka]

"Well then that will just make this training session much more fun, why don't you try i dunno running up to my and kick, or punch me, seems like that would be a quick attack to a Pokemorph," Sora replied. "Um...okay." Shizuka nodded, although feeling hesitant about attacking and possible hurting Sora when he was already a bit handicapped. "Before we start do you mind if I ask your name," Sora asked. Shizuka then realized that she knew what Sora's name was, but she hadn't told him hers yet.

Straightening up and adjusting the strap on her bag, she put down her bag beside Neji, who was watching Sora curiously. "I am Shizuka. Shizuka Mikudo." Shizuka introduced herself, smiling shyly. She walked over so that she was standing across from Sora, but with enough space in between them. She had always been the one watching the battle before this. Never before did she ever think she would end up being the pokemon and fighting the battle. "Okay, Lightning Speed!" Shizuka chanted to herself, and she felt a rush of energy rush to her limbs. Gathering all her speed, she sprinted at Sora with an astounding speed that she never knew she was capable of, and somehow, instinctively, she knew how to attack. Using her speed to strengthen her attack, her hand shot out, attempting to push Sora away.

Sora fell off of his feet and quickly placed his staff under him to get back up as fast as he could." Nice Quick attack" Sora said trying to recover from the attack. Kirara, Sora's Umbreon, popped out of her Pokeball, I'd rather stay out here and not get crushed by the battle the Pokeball is rumbly." Sora chuckled upon hearing this remark " You stay and don't get hurt princess," Out of irritation Kirara shot a Psychic at Umbreon forgetting that he was a dark type.

"Good thing you're sooooo smart Kirara! Thanks for not leaving a scratch even though there is a level difference between me and Shizuka and you sort of could've made it fair," Noticing Shizuka might find this mean he shyly explained to Shizuka, "Don't worry me and Kirara always fight, we're like brother and sister!" Upon saying that Sora opened his mouth and shot a Shadow Ball at Shizuka.

Shizuka instantly hesitated, wondering if she should help Sora up and apologize, but then it seemed that Sora hadn't even gotten much of a scratch. He must be a much higher level. He's been a Pokemorph for a much longer time than me. She realized. The difference in level was rather obvious. "Nice Quick attack" Sora complemented her. That at least lifted Shizuka's hopes. "Thanks, but I guess I'm not nearly close to your level yet." Shizuka smiled nervously as she thanked him.

Waiting for Sora to get up, Shizuka noticed that an Umbreon popped out of one of Sora's pokeballs. She realized soon after that she could understand all pokemon, not just her own. "I'd rather stay out here and not get crushed by the battle the Pokeball is rumbly." The Umbreon remarked, and Sora chuckled. "You stay and don't get hurt princess." Shizuka knew immediately that the Phycic that the Umbreon shot at Sora wouldn't affect him at all, being a dark type and all. "Good thing you're sooooo smart Kirara! Thanks for not leaving a scratch even though there is a level difference between me and Shizuka and you sort of could've made it fair." Then Sora smiled at Shizuka, even though she hadn't picked up on the meaning of the statement, thinking more about the difference in her ability to his, and how much training she would need to be able to be useful as a Pokemorph, she smiled shyly back.

"Don't worry me and Kirara always fight, we're like brother and sister!" Sora explained. Shizuka, at this point, now finally focused on the conversation Sora was having with her and Kirara, was not expecting the Shadow Ball attack at all. It was so fast, and powerful. Shizuka gasped and tried to dodge, but before she could even begin to move, the sphere of ghost type powers collided with her. In alarm, Neji roared, rushing to her side. When the debris and clouds of smoke and dust finally cleared, with some help by Neji's flapping of his wings, Shizuka was passed out, lying on the ground. "Hey! Are you okay? Darn, she fainted in one hit." Neji grumbled while trying to pick Shizuka up. Looking at Sora and shrugging, amused at Shizuka's quick defeat, he growled. "Looks like we have a lot of training to do..." Neji set Shizuka down on a soft patch of grass to wait for her to revive.

Sora quickly rushed over to Shizuka's side "I'm sorry I didn't think you would faint in one hit," Sora looked up slightly embarrassed at Neji, 'Haha guess we need to train her a lot more till I fight her again." Looking up at the moonlit sky Sora asked Neji, " Since Shizuka's the lady here do you think we should put her in my sleeping bag? I wouldn't mind sleeping next to a tree I feel Terrible for making her faint, especially since, I hope you won't tell her this, I have a slight crush on her." Getting tired Sora went up against the tree and closed his eyes.

[Shizuka]

"I'm sorry I didn't think you would faint in one hit," Neji heard the umbreon kid say as he ran over to Shizuka's side. "Haha guess we need to train her a lot more till I fight her again." Neji closed his eyes and snorted. "It can't be helped that you're level 20 and she's level 6. The difference will take a bit of time to overcome." Opening one eye, he followed Sora's gaze up to the moon lit sky. " Since Shizuka's the lady here do you think we should put her in my sleeping bag? I wouldn't mind sleeping next to a tree I feel terrible for making her faint, especially since, I hope you won't tell her this, I have a slight crush on her."

Neji narrowed his eyes. Shizuka was his trainer, and he wasn't about to give her to this umbreon brat quite yet, at least not until he proved that he could take care of Shizuka. Neji had traveled with Shizuka way longer than Sora. He liked to think of himself as her older brother, always there to protect her when she gets herself into trouble. Crossing his arms, he growled suspiciously at Sora. "I'll be the judge of that when the time comes. Shizuka is my trainer, and we have traveled together for a very long time. I won't let you have her quite so soon." If anyone dare lay a finger on my trainer without her permission, they will regret it as long as I am alive. He thought. Besides, deep down, he was angry with himself for not being able to protect Shizuka from Team Kuro, and Sora used to come from Team Kuro. It would take time for his suspicious to die down.

"That would probably be good, since you owe Shizuka one for knocking her out in one hit." He chuckled. "Shizuka didn't pack much in her bag except for pokemon supplies. I offered to carry a bag so that we could bring things like that along, but she didn't want take too much on this journey."

Sora walked over and patted Neji's head and said nicely, " Shizuka's got a good Charizard companion, She's lucky to have you" While thinking a bit bitterly "Wish I could say that you were lucky to have her, but that's not really the thing to say now is it?" Giving Shizuka his Sleeping bag Sora went to a tree next to her and fell asleep.

[Shizuka]

Neji simply crossed his arms and let out a puff of smoke from his nostrals. He would not take petty jokes from a kid like this. He walked over and crouched on the ground, the warmth of his body encircling Shizuka.

The heat seemed to bring back the color in her face, and she stirred before blinking open her eyes. She glanced down confusedly at the sleeping bag she was laying in, but was reassured by Neji's presence encircling her.

Peeking past the flame on Neji's tail, she noticed the umbreon boy, Sora, sleeping next to a tree, his face illuminated by the light of Neji's tail flame. She then guessed what had happened, that Sora lent her his sleeping bag since she dind't bring one, and she blushed, holding the sleeping bag flap to her face and, with her heightened Vulpix senses, smelling his foreign scent all over it. Maybe...just possibly, she might be beginning to like the kind umbreon boy...

When the Umbreon Pokemorph waked up on the ground he was wondering why he was a bit warm even without a sleeping bag, then he remembered about the cute Vulpix Pokemorph and her fiery Charizard, Neji. He then hoped that the Vulpix enjoyed the sleeping bag and kept her from getting a cold. His Espeon Partner then, eavesdropping on her trainer's thoughts rested her tail on him and curled up on his lap. "So," he wondered, "I wonder what Shizuka thinks of me..."
