Connor walked up to the Professor's lab. As he looked up at the building he frowned. He was going to get his starter pokemon today. After everything he had bean through he still loved fire pokemon. Even though he didn't even know why he loved fire type pokemon. He quickly knocked on the door than entered. There was a small room with a couch in in and a desk. A receptionist at the desk and he walked up to her. "I'm here to see Prof. Rose to get my starter pokemon." He waited for her to reply. He hoped that the good professor was there. he really wanted to get his first pokemon.

At that moment, Professor Rose walked in, "Oh, hi there, Connor. Time already?" She smiled, knowing that he would be excited and nervous at the same time, as she had been when her grandfather, Samuel, had given her first Bulbasaur, "Well, why don't you come around back, and you can make you choice?" She opened a door that lead to the back of her laboratory and held it open.
Beka was running somewhat late that day. She hurried along the path to the lab, hoping that Professor Rose wouldn't be mad. She hurried through the glass doors and arrived in time to see the professor open the door for Connor.

Connor turned from the secretary to the door leading from the waiting room as Prof. Rose entered the room. He nodded, "Morning Prof. Rose," he said softly. So softly that the professor probably did not hear him. He was cool and collected. Not exactly excited and not one bit nervouse. He was perfectly calm. He fallowed her back into the room where the pokemon where kept.
His right ear twitched as he saw several pokeballs lined up the the species and moves of each pokemon listed below the pokeball. Just as he was reaching for one of the pokeballs a girl showed up. Turning he glared at the strange girl and stuck his hands in his jacket pocket. His ears lade flat against his head and his tail was swishing back and forth irritated with the older girl for interrupting his time with the professor. He glared at her and bared his teeth in an almost dog like way showing his sharp pointed teeth.
Connor could tell she was in a rush. He figured she was supposed to get her pokemon before him but was late. That wasn't his fault. So the girl would have to wait her turn. First come first serve. He grabbed the pokeball he had bean reaching for and a Flareon came out of it. Bending down he examined it bending it's legs gently. If he was going to be a breeder he was going to need a healthy pokemon.

Professor Rose smiled. She followed Connor into the room in the back of her lab. As Beka came in, she was surprised to find Connor baring his teeth at her. She was wondering about how he would work with the Vulpix he seemed to be interested in. "Connor, this is Beka, Beka, Connor." Introductions made, she looked at Connor, on the floor examining the Vulpix, "Is that your choice, Connor?"
Beka could see that the boy didn't want her there. As Professor Rose introduced them, she nodded, but gestured to the door, "Would you like me to wait outside, Professor?" The professor shrugged, and Beka took it to mean she could stay. She leaned against the wall, watching the boy examine a Vulpix through half closed eyes, her tail swishing slowly.

Connor finished his exam and smiled his two canines showing over his bottom lip. "Yes she is one of my choices. Depending on if the male is as healthy as the female is." He returned the Falreon to it's pokeball and setting it back in it's spot. He than picked up the ball next to it holding the male Vulpix and called it out. His ears pricked as he frowned. Something didn't look right. The Flareon was slightly smaller than the other vulpix. He bent down and went through the same exam as he had with the female. The Flareon actually looked kind of sick. He couldn't believe the shape of the pokemon. He picked the Flareon up gently. "This pokemon needs to go to the pokemon center and fast. Do you have a transport system?" Connor knew the nearest pokemon center was in Urdang City. And he had to go through the Forest of Shadows.
He couldn't believe that the Professor would have such a sick pokemon in her care and put it up for a starter. Did she even know this pokemon was sick? Or maybe she had aides who took care of the pokemon for her. Either way the pokemon needed help and fast.

(Flareon? I thought Vulpix?)
Professor Rose shook her head and dropped to her knees beside the Flareon, "No, we don't have a transport system for now. It broke down last week. You will have to go through the Forest of Shadows." She looked up at Beka, "You and Beka can go together. Beka, go ahead and grab one of those Pokeballs as well."
Beka nodded and took the Pokeball labeled 'Leafeon' and tossed it, "Come on!" The Leafeon appeared, and Beka looked at Connor expectantly, "Well, lets go. Time counts. Are you taking the other Flareon?"

Connor shook his head unbelieving the professor. Of course he would have volunteered to take the Flareon to the Pokemon Center but the professor practically ordered him to take it. He looked at the girl and frowned. Why would she even go with him? They didn't know each other.
"Ok I'll head out right now." He grabbed the other Flareon's pokeball. and attached it to his belt. "What about the starter pack? I'm going to need my pokeballs and potions for the trip through the forest."

Professor Rose nodded, "Right. Sorry, I'm distracted right now." She grabbed two backpacks and handed one to Connor, one to Beka, "Thank you, Connor. I'm going to go ask my aide about this, and I'll be at the Pokemon Center as soon as I can. I'm going to have to go find a new helper, most likely." She was worried about trusting the two with the sick Pokemon, but couldn't think of what else she could do. "I'm sorry, guys. If you don't want to go, that's fine. I realize I can't force you to help me. Thank you for noticing, Connor."
Beka shrugged as she took her backpack and looked at Connor, "Well, I've been that route before. I can go, I think. My buisness can wait." She looked at the Leafeon that was at her side now and smiled, "Well, I'll call you Blat, for now. What do you think?" The Leafeon cocked it's head, then grunted noncomittedly. Beka smiled and started walking towards the door, holding it open for Connor. Even though he was chilly, Beka didn't have to be the same. They would be spending the next few minutes together, at least.

{Minutes it takes a whole day and a half to get from this town to the other. They'll be spending allot of time together.}
Collen nodded, "Don't worry I'll take great care of him during our trip to the next village. Call ahead and tell them where on our way with a sick pokemon." With that he turned and headed out the door nodding his thanks to Beka. He had his back pack slung over one arm. "Can you take him for a second so I can put my back pack on?" He gently handed the girl the pokemon than quickly slung his back pack on and took the pokemon back.
He wanted to run and make the trip faster but he knew that that might only make things worse. He grabbed his pokeball and called out the other Flareon. He still wasn't sure if he would be chosen these two as his starters. But he had figured that the female would want to be with her friend. "Lead the way Flareon." The Flareon nodded and took off at a fast but steady walk.

Beka smiled down at the sick Pokemon as she held it, gingerly making sure she wouldn't harm the poor thing. When Connor took the Pokemon back, she looked at him, "Ready to go?" As he let out his Flareon and told it to lead the way, she just shrugged to herself, trying not to feel miffed by his taking command without asking. She started following the Flareon, Blat at her side.

Conner shrugged, "yea let's get going." He led the way out of the town. He stopped on the edge of the town and turned to the girl. "Are you sure you want to come with me? Once we enter the forest there's no turning back. I have to go but you don't have to."
The female Flareon sat down looking irritated. "Come on get moving we don't have any time to spare." She grabbed Connor's pant leg and tugged him towards the forest.

Beka rolled her eyes, "Of course I'm coming. You don't think I can handle it, so you? I've traveled that way before." The impertinence of this boy annoyed her, but she tried not to let too much of that annoyance show. She started forward again, "You're right, Flareon."

Connor rolled his eyes talk about annoying. He never said that he hated it when people put words in his mouth. He quickly stormed ahead of her at a fast walk. The second they entered the forest there was a change. It was much darker as the sun was being blocked by the thick trees. When they reached a tree that had recently fallen he looked at it's base and frowned. It had bean knocked down by a pokemon. He could see where the pokemon had hit it several times before it finally fell. He scrambled over it and continued on his way not even bothering to help the girl.
Another tree fell just feet in front of Connor almost hitting him. As it was a few of the smaller branches knocked against him. He had bean over the Flareon protecting it. His arms and face got a few scratches but other wise he was ok. Shortly fallowing the fallen tree two ghost pokemon showed up. The first to show was a Shuppet and a Duskull fallowed it. Connor gently set the male Flareon down. "Flareon use use Ember on Duskull.
Shuppet flew towards Beka and used Curse on the leafeon. Half of the shuppets life was taken away and did damage to the leafeon. It would continue to do damage for the next several rounds.
{Can you play the Duskull for me?}

Beka sighed. Now what had she done to annoy him? she kept up with him easily, her long legs standing her in good stead this time. As they scrambled over trees and through bushes, her fair skin was scratched in a few places, but otherwise she sustained no injury. As a Shuppet floated her way and attacked Blat, Beka looked down at the grass type, "Blat, Magical Leaf!" The Pokemon nodded, and soon colorful, sharp eaves were swirling towards the Shuppet.
The Duskull was singed by the Ember, but soon countered with Shadow Sneak.

Connor jumped in front of the flareon and took the attack himself. "Flareon use tack." He than used ember quickly fallowed by bite. on the Duskull.
Blitz the sick flareon stood up and used ember. He knew Flare was in trouble. Flare {female flareon out of the her eye saw Blitz stand out. "Lie down your to sick to help Blitz," she called over her shoulder.
Connor heard the female shout and turned to look at her. So the pokemon already had names.
Shuppet dodged the attack just barely only a couple of the leaves scraped against him. He than used Night Shade.

Ember hit Duskull st5raight on, but the other moves had no effect on it, as they were normal type. Duskull countered with Night Shade, then used Astonish on Flare.
Beka looked over as the Flareon tried to stand. While she was distracted, Night Shade hit her, but Blat was able to jump out of the way. Beka concentrated on the Shuppet again and called out, "Razor Leaf, then Sand Attack!"

Flare took the Night Shade and Astonish straight on. She had bean distracted by Blaze. She was flung back by the force and landed hard on her back letting out a cry of pain. She stood up on wobbly legs and shook her head. She than used Ember on the Duskull.
Connor joined his ember with Flare's to make it twice as strong. "You will be mine Duskull." Connor cried out.
Blitz shook his head and used ember as well combining it with Connor's and Flare's.
From the side line Josiah watched the two battle the pokemon. At his side stood an eevee he had just gotten from Prof. Rose. "Well Destiny what do you think? Should we help them or let them battle this out?"
Destiny looked at the one Flareon it looked pretty week. "Watch for now if things start getting bad we help."
Josiah nodded and smiled as he watched Beka. She was doing great he was so proud of her.
Shuppet took the razor leaf head on. It dodged the sand attack and smiled. Each round the leafeon would lose some health from his first attack. It than used Willow Wisp which would do major damage if it hit the leafeon.

Duskull let the attack hit him, dazed but not yet fainted. He used Night Shade again, trying to at least remain in the battle a little longer.
Beka saw the Wil-O-Wisp coming and lept in front of it, taking the attack for Leafeon. She shouted out as the flames touched her bare skin, but soon the attack was over, leaving her skin blistered. She looked at the Leafeon, "Razor Leaf, one more time!" The Pokemon nodded, and soon the attack was underway again.

Connor took the night shade to protect his pokemon. He cried out in pain but he remained standing. "Flare ember I'll combine mine with yours again." He than used ember.
Flare nodded and combined her ember with Connor's.
Blitz fell to the ground the exertion wore him out and he was to weak to fight any more.
Josiah wanted to leap forward when Beka took the Wil-O-Wisp but stayed back. Beka had to learn to defend herself.
Shuppet took the razor leaf and fell to the ground unconscious.

Beka grinned as the Shuppet fell down. She reached into her bag and pulled out a Pokeball. "You're mine now!" The Pokeball engulfed the Shuppet in red light, then sat there, rolling from side to side.
Blat ran over to Blitz and stood over him, watching out for any attacks that may hit the weakened Pokemon.
The Duskull was hit by both of the attacks. With a weak, keening, "Dus-," he crashed to the ground.

The pokeball holding Shuppet rolled from side to side three times. There was a long pause between the second and third role given the impression of the pokemon about to break out. But finally the pokeball dinged signaling that the pokemon had bean caught.
Josiah smiled and walked up behind Beka and wrapped his arms around her. "Great catch babe." He kissed the back of her neck than walked over and picked the pokeball up and handed it to her. "You earned this pokemon you battled hard Beka."
Connor threw his pokeball than turned his back to check on Blitz. He signaled for Flare to keep watch just in case. He checked over Blitz real quick and frowned. "Your going to have to stay in your pokeball until we get to the Pokemon Center."

As Josiah walked up behind her, Beka started, then relaxed as she realized who it was, "Thanks, Josiah." She took the Pokeball and held it in her hand, debating where to put it. Shrugging, she stuck it onto her belt, resolving to find a better place to put it later. She looked at Connor, "This is Josiah. Joe, this is Connor." She looked at Blat, then at Josiah, "Did you get a Pokemon from the Professor?" Blat came to stand at her side, turned around so that it was facing her blind side.
The Pokeball emitted a small 'Ding!' then went still, the Pokemon trapped inside of it.

Connor walked over and picked up the pokeball and attached it to his belt. "Hey love birds we have a job to do or have you already forgotten about Blitz Beka?" He asked turning to look at her and the new comer. He had just started to warm up to the girl. She was a good fighter. And she was pretty brave throwing herself in front of the attacks for her pokemon. Of course he would do it in a heartbeat but it was odd to see someone else who cared as much about there pokemon. He already considered the two flareons as his.
Josiah smiled and nodded and Connor. "Hey nice to meet you Connor." "Yea I got an eevee." He whistled and out came a cute eevee heading towards them. "I named her Destiny. "So what's all this about a job. What job are you talking about? Maybe I can help out." He wondered if he was talking about the sick flareon or maybe it was some other job. He shrugged figuring he would wait for Josiah to tell him. Josiah turned back to Beka, "So i see you got a leafeon for your pokemon. I wanted to get an evo of eevee but the prof wouldn't let me."

Beka rolled her eyes at Josiah, "No, I haven't forgotten him, Connor. I'm sorry for trying to be polite and introducing you to the person that will most likely be coming with us." She looked to Josiah, "You are coming, aren't you?" She knew that he probably wouldn't leave her, they almost never did. She looked down at the Eevee, "She's really pretty." As she heard the name, she laughed, "Hello, Destiny. It is nice to meet you. This is Blat." She shrugged, "Blitz is sick, and we are supposed to take him to the Pokecenter."

Connor frowned, "sorry," he mumbled. He couldn't help it he was really worried about Blitz. He had gotten worse when he had tried to help him. "Do the intro's as we walk we don't have any time to spare." He didn't care if the new guy came with them as long as they kept walking.
Josiah smiled and put his arm around her shoulders. "You bet I'm coming Beka. Who's going to protect you from him" He pointed towards Connor and laughed.
Destiny smiled in thanks, "It is a pleasure to meet you to I have heard allot about you from Josiah."

Beka nodded, "You are right, of course, Connor. I'm sorry for taking too long." Her voice had a faint edge of sarcasm, but that was it, and it was not not even noticable. She put her arm around Josiah's waist and shook her head, "I don't think I need protection from him."
Blat walked over to where Destiny was and blinked, *Hi there! I guess we will be traveling together now?*
Beka started walking along the path, leading Josiah towards the Pokecenter with her.

Connor quickly led the way through the forest. It was already starting to get dark he cursed under his breath. In four hours it would be to dark to see. "We'll have to set up camp soon. We shouldn't travel at night it's not safe." He continued heading on about three hours later they came to a small clearing in the middle of the forest n ear a creak. "This place should do what do you guy's think?"
Josiah laughed softly and kept his arm around her waist as they walked through the woods. "So where did you find him?" He asked shortly before arriving to the clearing. "Sure looks great to me. I'll go gather some wood for a fire." He let go of Beka and leaned down to kiss her before disappearing into the trees.
Connor nodded and went about setting up the tent he had brought with him. It took him fifteen minutes to set it up. He quickly made a bed out of his sleeping bag. "There should be room for all three of us if you two don't have your own tent." He than called Blitz out and made a broth out of berries and a few other things when he was down he had Blitz drink it. "It's not going to taste good but it will keep you strong until we get to the pokemon center tomorrow night."
Blitz sniffed at the bowl and wrinkled his nose but did as he was told and lapped at the broth that nearly made him gag.
Flare nuzzled Blitz, "drink it all we have a long way ahead of us still."

Beka nodded, "It looks good to me, Connor." She took her sleeping bag out of her backpack and hung it on a tree limb to air out while she walked around the forest, collecting berries. Once she had found enough, she started baking, using the glowing embers of the fire. After a while, delicious smells started wafting around the air, and Beka stood up again, holding a small, purplish loaf in her hands, "Come on, guys. I made berry bread."

Connor watched as the others ran around getting stuff to make camp. He would have helped but he was to busy caring for his pokemon. When Conner came back with the fire wood and built the fire. He watched as Beka ran off into the woods. When she came back he watched her cook something in the fire. He could smell the flour and yeast and knew she was making bread. It smelled good. "Thanks Beka but maybe later.
Blitz looked hungrily at the bread but knew he was to week to eat it.
Flare walked into the tent and lied down beside Connor's sleeping bag and drifted asleep.
Josiah his arms around Beka's waist, "Emm smells good can't wait to try some."

Beka broke of a piece of the bread and handed it to Josiah, "Here you go. Don't burn your tongue on it." She took another piece of the bread, then placed the rest on her pack to keep it off of the ground for the time being. She took her water bottle and walked over to Blitz and sat down next to him. Taking a piece of bread, she soaked it in water and then put it in Blitz's mouth. It would be soft enough for the Pokemon to swallow, and it would still give him some nutrition.
